Sharewest Community Exercise Classes

What are Sharewest Community Exercise Classes?

Sharewest is an exercise program delivered in  partnership with local clubs, councils and allied health professionals. The program is designed to promote health and wellbeing, prevent falls and other injuries and encourage a healthier lifestyle.

Sharewest offers the community better access to health and fitness classes at subsidised rates. Participants can choose from a range of classes to suit their health and fitness level.

Who should participate in Sharewest?

Sharewest is most suitable for seniors, beginner exercisers and those people who have or are at risk of developing a chronic disease, and have limited access to exercise facilities or are intimidated by traditional gym environments.

There are no eligibility criteria; however, it is a requirement that participants fill in a
pre-exercise questionnaire annually and, if required, obtain medical clearance by a GP.

What are the benefits of Sharewest to participants?

Sharewest offers participants the opportunity to:

  • Develop a greater awareness of healthy muscles and joints
  • Improve strength, balance and coordination
  • Increase energy levels
  • Learn useful relaxation, breathing and stress  management techniques
  • Reduce the incidence of falls and other injuries
  • Enjoy increased social contact and interaction
  • Achieve an independent lifestyle through physical activity
  • Reduce the likelihood or incidence of chronic disease.
